Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
The study of Buddhism and mindfulness meditation opened up the door to an observational study of conflict from the inside out. I began to understand conflict and see possibilities to work to promote peace starting with the individual.

I am a yoga teacher and recent graduate of the Monterey Institute of International Studies Master of Public Administration program. I have worked in Spain, Paraguay, Senegal, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and the United States.

I'm interested in using yoga and mindfulness techniques in violence prevention programs, especially with youth, and in post-conflict and post-disaster situations to support emotional, mental, and physical health and resilience. I recently worked in Colombia with the international NGO Mercy Corps, training social workers and facilitators to integrate yoga and mindfulness into their psychosocial interventions with at-risk youth and displaced families.
