Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
My journey began as simply as being the big sister to a troubled daughter, a friend to drama prone teens, a witness to my family's rise to the middle class, and a fatherless child. These common place life experiences led me to become a person who aspires to seek reconciliation and collective action to solve major problems. How is a long simple story.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
As a Peace Studies minor and a student of Sociology I gained valuable practice in conflict analysis, knowledge of diverse faith base peace practices, human rights, and a strong history of UN Peacekeeping missions in the classroom and through independent study. I look forward to graduating with a MA in Conflict Analysis.

What is your current country of residence (or location of your organization)?

An Open Letter To Taylor Swift From An Afghan Pop Fan

Dear Taylor Swift,

You must still lie awake at night thinking about how your shinning moment was stolen by a self-assured prick who is too certain of his own righteousness to consider the rights of others. You must feel so victimized and so alone.

But Taylor Swift, you are not alone. Did you know that right now in Islam, 1 in 3 pious Muslims will get swifted by some maniacal terrorist? Yes Taylor, it’s true. It’s a crime; and, it’s a shame. Decent people like you are gettin… Continue

All In On Obama: The Significance of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Decision

The stunning announcement that Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize comes at a time when leaders and laymen alike are realizing that Obama’s soaring oratory and ambitious promises haven’t been matched by substantive results thus far. Ironically, only days following a Saturday Night Live skit comically mocking his done nothing record, Barack Obama becomes a Nobel Laureate joining the ranks of Mahatma Gandhi and Teddy Roosevelt. Rather than providing vindication, this uncomfortable juxta… Continue

America, Protect Our Voice

Late one afternoon a stranger makes his way into a small Midwestern town where he sticks out like a nail that needs a good pounding. For the locals, his presence is a disdainful skeptical. They greet him with scorn. Oblivious, his eyes shift from his map to the street signs. He’s here on business and his turf wasn’t easy to find. Going from door to door, the stranger is not received well. By morning he was found strung to a tree.

With the exception of a few creative liberties… Continue
