What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Growing up in the Washington DC metro area with socially conscience parents and getting involved early.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
As I am first and fore most an educator, who has worked in the public schools for 20+ years, I became drawn into looking for a better means to address students who are experiencing extended periods of social chaos. Realizing that institutions often contribute to the disruption individuals must navigate, I have done training in restorative practices and restorative justice. As part of a class project for one of CJP's (Center for Justice and Peacebuilding/EMU) graduate classes, I worked out a theoretical model for moving the larger community to adopt or increase their commitments to restorative practices. The Restorative Community Foundation was established in 2005 from this class assignment. We are doing some model projects and continue to move things along with the help of partnering organizations. I am particularly interested in Dan Van Ness' RJ City simulation model and the work done through the International Institute of Restorative Practices because it gets at the larger picture.

Christa, your project is interesting and I have no doubt that if you see information on prisons and inmates in Nigeria you will quite appreciate it. In Nigeria, the numers of 'innocent' inmates are high. I would love to participate if given the opportunity because it is part of the area the organization I work for operate. But you will need to send terms of reference, and where do you think the finances will come from. My oganization may not be ready to shoulder that now, since we have budgeted for our projects this year.
I will be happy to work with you.

Good Day
Social and Economic Ills are major obstacles to Peace. I am a Social-Cultural Anthropologist and I live in Washington DC. My life's work of the past 38 years have allowed me to do research, planned practicum, and develop curriculum in the following specific areas: Ethnic Identity in a Multicultural Environment; Interfaith Initiatives; Social Justice and Social Capital; For America to be Great; Human Rights and Citizenship Rights; Social-Economic Equality vs. Social-Economic Inequality; Democracy or Republic, and other styles of Government; Humanity and Inhumanity; and Poverty and family Empowerment. Currently I am culminating my work into print and non-print media with the hopes that my work will contribute to the advancement of Humanity in the world.
I have worked abroad in the West Indies, and I have worked in different States in America. I am a native Washingtonian born and raised in Washington, DC. Specifically I have worked with distressed families and the communities in rural, urban, suburban, and Native American settings; working also with federal agencies, local and State Government, and entities of the private sector. Additionally I am a former Community Builder fellow with HUD, and a member of the distinguished Urban Rural Connection of the Kellogg’s Foundation.
I would like to share my work and thoughts with you in your professional capacities. Can we talk? Thank you and please have a good day.
