Profile Information

Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
Chika Onyenezi was born in Nigeria. Sold his first Novel titled Locust Invasion to Kimpa Vita Press in Norway (2010). A press dedicated to publishing fictions cutting across activism and peace. A book due to be released in mid-2011.

The 24 years old writer has a full scholarship from European Peace University to study Peace and Conflict studies, Masters (starting September 2011).

He has also been criticized by several writers for his thought-provoking work; literally stepping on toes of the larger International community and his own government. His writing is deeply rooted in what he has experienced and has no apology for that.

His work-in-progress Sea Lavender is no exception in his provoking works. As it steps on the foot of both cultist in the university and clearly lays bare the corrupt state of Nigerian government. He intends to be prolific as he emerges as one of the strongest voice in African literature. Writing what other writers are afraid to write, in a style more experimental than normal.

PONDER LINE: Nigerian Election Aftermath and the Martyr vocabulary

Posted on June 15, 2011 at 6:47am 0 Comments

Currently I am a serving corps member in Abuja. I could remember the text that got to me at the day of the Nigerian general election from comrade Moses, a friend who we stayed in camp together.

It read:

POEM: In search of Bedlam

Posted on June 14, 2011 at 12:25pm 2 Comments

To identify with my past…I sought you my soul

I learnt of priest’s chalice

Filled with wine of disgust

Shared among inmates of sanity

I learnt the gates are metal high

Shadows of past roaring near

I seek bedlam for my soul’s rest…

Back to the soil I grew upon,

Wetted by my saliva

Stamped by my milky toes

I grew on this…
