Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Having been a victim and witnessed the gruesome and brutal conflict of Northern Uganda that has displaced 1.2 million people in Internal Displaced Camps (IDPs), abduction of over 40,000 children by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), human rights abuses and violations by the state actor (UPDF), use of children as child soldiers by both LRA and Government forces, destruction of the social and cultural fiber of people in Acholi sub-region, and all the other vices of violent conflicts, i have inspired to passionately become one of the drivers of change especially in the field of peace i.e. peaceful resolution of violent conflicts around the world. I am determined to continue contributing in the field of peace and conflict resolution, and conflict transformation of society with the different stakeholders.

I served as a Senior Adviser for Norther Uganda at the Netherlands Embassy, Kampala, and my major roles included; support to the peace process, humanitarian and relief support, human rights, rule of law, CSOs support and advised the embassy on critical issues affecting the entire Northern Uganda.

Charles served at Peace Brigades International(PBI/USA), Center for Peace Building International (CPBI), Washington, DC, International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, Netherlands, Acholi Religious Leader's Peace Initiative (ARLPI),Kitgum, and ACORD Kitgum as a Project Officer.

I hold a BA Political Science (PS) and Social Administration (SA), from Makerere University, and MA International Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) from American University (AU), Washington, DC.
