Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Because I was born in Sri Lanka. In the context of war for the last thirty years I have been very keenly engaged in peaceful means of resolving the conflioct.. I am in many ways wish to work for peace and reconciliation in the country.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
I am Jeevendra Paul OMI, a Catholic Priest, born in Sri Lanka. I have been serving in many capacities in Jaffna the North of Sri Lanka until 2005 September. I was lecturing at the University of Jaffna in the Department of Christian Civilization and at the Major Seminary of Jaffna for nearly eleven years.
I served as the Provincial Superior from 1999 to 2005. During my tenure I was able to initiate several projects in the fields of Peace and social development in Sri lanka in collaboration with Organizations abroad especially in Germany. MISEREOR and Pax-Christi of German section are very specially noteworthy.

I was the Founder of the Center for Peace and Reconciliation in Jaffna which still operates and works vibrantly towards peace and reconciliation through non violence means. Presently he is the Grant Director of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate based at the General House in Rome and serves as the liaison person in coordinating projects related to humanitarian, development and Peace building for the congregation at large.

Having experienced since 1983 the conflict which erupted in the region with all its complexity I am keen on working toward peace in the country through a negotiated settlement.

I've only been once to Sri Lanka, but have several friends who've worked on conflict transformation in Sri Lanka - though these are mostly expats, and there's of course a big difference between nationals and internationals working in a specific setting. I mean I am connected through my Organization to several countries. Could we work on a possible preject in Nepal for peace? I really do not know the situation and the need of the people. May be you could enlighted me on it.

i am from Nepal and currently involved an organization- alliance for Peace which is working for the peacekeeping. I am new to this field so i am looking for the training programs and seminars scholarship so that i can build up my skills.
