Ani holds an MA in Gender and Peace Building from the United Nations mandated University for Peace (Costa Rica) and a BAH from Queen’s University (Canada), where she studied Politics and English Literature with a strong gender/feminist focus. Prior to joining the Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (YCSRR), Ani supported many different teams within the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID), from governance to communications. She was also part of the UN-INSTRAW/UN Women (Dominican Republic) Gender, Peace and Security team, researching under the frameworks of UNSCR 1325 and security sector reform. In 2007, Ani spent a year with the Women’s Resource Center (Armenia/Nagorno-Karabakh), an organization she is affiliated with to this day in support of young feminist activism projects. She has written for Elevate Difference (Feminist Review), Education for Change, Feminuity, the UPeace Monitor, the YFA Wire, the AWID Friday Files, and was awarded the 2011 IASSCS prize for best paper.
