As a student of political studies at Queen's university (Canada), I became increasingly familiar with the theoretical frameworks related to conflict and peace, with especial focus on gender. Upon graduation, I began work with the Women's Resource Center NGOs in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabagh, where I gained first hand knowledge of peace processes and women's involvement/exclusion from security and peace issues. With this understanding, I pursued an MA in Gender and Peacebuilding at the United Nations mandated University for Peace (Costa Rica) and have continued to pursue my efforts in the field of gender at the headquarters of the UN-INSTRAW as part of UN-WOMEN (Dominican Republic), AWID (Association for Women's Rights in Development) in Toronto, Canada and WILPF Toronto (Women's International League for Peace and Freedom)
