- Lakes Link Uganda (LLU) is a Non Governmental Organization that was established in 2004 and has been operational and fully registered by the NGO Board of Uganda. Lakes Link aims at promoting sustainable environment use and management within lake basins of Uganda through information sharing.
Our mission is to have a lake basin population that is informed on issues in the basin areas, so as to enhance sustainable development and goal of promoting environmental management and sustainable development agenda in the lake basins of Uganda and its people through proper information gathering, dissemination and sharing.
Due to the community structural overturn that occurred in the region between 1986-1992 and recent population explosion, the community outlook on wetlands,practices on agriculture and fisheries drastically changed leading to massive wetland degradation and later on conflicts among different resource users.
Lakes link Uganda has stepped in to help resolve these conflicts through mobilization and sensitization on wetland use and management geared towards restoration of the wetland system,functions and biodiversity to its former state,reduce water related diseases like typhoid and improving the livelihoods of the surrounding communities through better practices such as farming,fishing and to improve availability of water in streams all year round.
