What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?

My work as historian of the Philippines' participation in global peace support operations, as well as the irony that my country is herself beset by peace issues.

I am coauthor of "Global Kawal", "Global Pulisya", and "National Pride, World Peace", which are definitive-reference books on the Filipino soldiers and civilian police officers' manpower and logistic contributions in international peace support and humanitarian-relief operations.

The history dates back to the combat participation in the Korean War (1950-55), through the pacification campaign during the Vietnam War (1964-71), and well into the current peacekeeping and special political missions under United Nations auspices.

The following mission areas are where Filipino soldiers and/or civilian police officers have served or are currently serving as peace-support elements, and of which conflict backgrounds I have BASIC knowledge:

The Korean Peninsula, The Congo, Vietnam, Iraq, Cambodia, Haïti, Timor-Leste, Kosovo, Aceh, Liberia, Côte d'Ivoire, Burundi, Afghanistan, Darfur, the Southern Sudan, Nepal, Georgia, Lebanon, Myanmar, Kashmir, the Golan Heights.
