I was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1987, having my father murdered in 1988. I grew up in the middle of a war that was going on in the city between drug gangs, and even though I was in a very safe place of the city I still heard the bombs exploding every week. Afther my father was murdered my mother and I had to hide for a while because we were receiving threats. For this, and for latter events that occured to me I got interested in conflict resolution and studied political science in the University of los Andes where I focused my atention on conflict and developed a research plan to study conflict in Medellin today. Right now I will be begining my masters in conflict resolution in Georgetown University.

Colombia at the negotiating table: Challenges for Peace

After taking a look at the Colombian peace negotiations, that will take place next week in Oslo, I have to say I am both excited and concerned. I am excited because for the first time in years we resume negotiations with FARC, and if the negotiations are successful Colombia can start building its road towards a long lasting stable peace.  I am however concerned for several reasons.
