Subject: Invitation for the “International seminar on Teacher Education for Peace and Harmony”.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are happy to inform you that IASE Deemed University, Gandhi Vidya Mandir, Sardarshahar, Rajasthan, India is organizing an International seminar on ”Teacher Education for Peace & Harmony” from Feb 11 to 13, 2012 at New Delhi.
Prior to this International Seminar a One day Pre-Seminar Workshop was
conducted at India International Centre, New Delhi on 24th September, 2011.
About 80 eminent educationists, experts in value education, former
bureaucrats/heads of various Educational organizations like University Grants
Commission (UGC), National Council of Education Research & Training (NCERT),
National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), Indira
Gandhi National Open university(IGNOU), National Institute of Open School (NIOS),
Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), National Human Rights
Commission (NHRC) etc. and a number of Vice Chancellors interested in the
cause of Teachers Education through Human Values, Peace and Harmony
participated in the workshop. They all advocated that only Value based
Teachers education would bring long term and stable transformation of
society.

Greetings Cynthia,

Great to be part of this group as I embark upon my MA thesis at AUT University, Auckland, New Zealand.  My thesis title is: When can the mandated Peace-Keepers be withdrawn after Intrastate Armed Conflict.  My hypothesis is that there needs to be more attention paid to when and how, "peace-keepers" can be withdrawn.  As at July 2011 there are 15 UN deployed missions alone on 4 continents.  I am a mature aged student (67 years) having returned to tertiary study and some guest lecturing to undergrads within our Social Sciences Faculty (War and Peace papers).   I look forward to learning much from my involvement with this Group and hopefully making some worthwhile contributions from time to time.

How can the African Union help to reshape the economic climate of the 21st. Century Africa that will usher in a positive attitude of hard work among Afrcans, void of corruption, destruction of natural resources, civil conflict, and wean itself from the donor dependence syndrome?

It's a pleasure for me to join this working group. And I think it will be usefull for some one who had left the area of studies to work. But it's important for me to link peace process, democratization and development so to create a network after time within human rights and development linked to the needs satisfaction.
