Hi All,

Please follow the bellow link for the 2010 All Africa Dance Festival on Peace which will be held in Nairobi at the end of this year. It would be good if the Institute can participate and raise the Somaliland peace message to all Africa.

That is very important Issue, it is not for someone specifically, it is the responsibility of all, and that is what we mostly do in the classes and even outside it. You know that we are hosting the key political parts in Somaliland and what we do encouraging them not to take the country to the Wrong side.

If allah says Nearly we will produce such announcement to the public also

Thanks Dear peace builder for you contribution in the field, I am really proud of it and hope the rest of the graduates will work on that

Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies
University of Hargeisa

Director of Institute of Peace and conflicts Word :( 2010)

The Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies was established at the University of Hargeisa in February, 2008 with short, medium and long-term aims of disseminating peace and conflict resolution knowledge throughout Somaliland and East Africa. We envision Peaceful Somaliland, where conflicts are resolved by nonviolent means, to be a model for the region in the areas of post-conflict. Towards this end, the institute commits to graduating students with solid theoretical and practical knowledge of peace building and conflict resolution.

The institute also augments the knowledge of this field of study among Somalilanders by conducting researches related to peace and security. To achieve this, the institute partners with other local and international peace building operations and institutions. Academic institutions include Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) in the USA and The United Nations mandated university for peace (UPEACE) in Costa Rica. UNDP and CARE are among the other international organizations working with us.

Immediately after its inception, the institute admitted its first class. Individuals in this cohort came with diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including but not limited to: MPs, ministers, military generals, civil society advocates, lawyers and professors. The program was met with positive responses from students as they put into practice the insights and skills obtained during the two-semester long period of study. External reactions were similar. ICPS is seen as needed in this tumultuous environment of East Africa and Somaliland since it will help to strengthen peace and security and build informed institutions. In the foreseeable future, the institute intends to upgrade its current Post-Graduate Diploma to Masters Program.
