Medical Camp and Potable water Programs in Sohan Village

We are going to setup a medical camp in the village tentatively on May 8 (Saturday). About six medical doctors will be available to provide free diagnosis and medicines to the poor. Students from Iqra University and NUML will accompany the medical team.

We are in the process of collecting funds for water tanks that will be installed in the village dispensary, and schools for the public.
Potable water will be supplied regularly by a business concern. Some of the poorest of the poor in the village do not have access to any water, let alone potable. They fetch their water from different places which are obviously charging them for it. Free potable water will be a blessing for them. It will surely be much appreciated. What better utilization of charity money? Students and faculty from the two universities are teeming up now. It is heartening indeed. Hats off to my students and colleagues.

I reviewed your program and it looks like you are moving forward!  It is a difficult thing to do considering the global economy and finding donors.  Have you thought about involving other university programs to become with your project?  We used to do that sort of thing when I was an archaeologist, it brought in money from volunteers and provided credits for their studies!  Just a thought

Deborah, The real literacy rate is lower than claimed by the Government of Pakistan.

The report about Taliban providing aid was exagerrated.

Comment by Deborah J. Boyd on April 18, 2011 at 10:21pm
What do you feel is the real literacy of Pakistan? Is there a regional difference? I was disappointed to know that when the USA sent aid to the flood victims, the Taliban told the locals that they, the Taliban, were providing it. I am only guessing that most of these people have little access to International news.

We do whatever we can however we can for the poorest of the poor. There is a lot of misery out there. Come and see it for yourself.

Fantastic Sohail. I like the challenge to your students and the great humanitarian work you are undertaking to provide medical care and water.
Peaceful blessing to you and your students and all who join your efforts!
