The Outward Bound Center for Peacebuilding seeks an enthusiastic intern with Congressional experience to work directly with the Executive Director, and Director of Programs, to support the advance of the Outward Bound Congressional Initiative during Spring/Summer 2012. Individuals with experience working on Capitol Hill are particularly encouraged to contact us.
The organization
Founded in December 2007, the Outward Bound Center for Peacebuilding challenges and inspires leaders in divided societies to build peace. Beginning with a catalytic expedition that encourages participants to push their limits and move beyond their comfort zones, the Center works with locally-based partners to identify next generation leaders, design programs that encourage leadership and teamwork; contribute to conflict resolution and reconciliation; and foster respect and trust among individuals and communities in regions of conflict. Outward Bound Peacebuilding is implementing its fourth year of programming with social entrepreneurs and political leaders from Israel and the West Bank, and working toward a new program in Sri Lanka.
The internship
We seek either a full-time or part-time intern for the period of mid-May to mid-August. It is an unpaid position, although a small transportation stipend may be available. Part-time interns are asked to commit to at least 20 hours a week for 3 months.
Primary responsibilities for this position will include research on members of Congress, contributing to the program proposal, development and implementation, assisting with funding proposals, writing for the website, and coordinating with Congressional staff.
Qualifications:
