APCN is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing a positive peace in Africa. It is comprised of Africanist scholars and professionals active in conflict analysis and resolution research, training, and practice. APCN's research and applied work encompasses peacebuilding, restorative justice, alternative dispute resolution, and other areas related to conflict prevention and management such as development, relief, governance, policing, and legal reform. Examples of APCN activities include producing public educational events, research, facilitating knowledge sharing and dissemination, skills training, and mentoring. APCN is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and with the State of Florida as an independent non-profit organization, effective February 2008

Culture and Conflict Programme
Call for proposals
The Prince Claus Fund and the Commonwealth Foundation are calling for:
- high quality and innovative research proposals from individuals exploring the role of culture in conflict and post-conflict situations
- multi-disciplinary project proposals from civil society organisations addressing the issue of culture and conflict
Two researchers will be appointed with responsibility for examining arts and culture-led initiatives for conflict resolution, including the work of the Culture and Conflict Programme grant recipients in Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. One researcher will be appointed from Africa and another from Asia.
Grants will be awarded to civil society organisations in Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Organisations should submit a proposal for the development and delivery of activities that use culture as a way of engaging with local communities. Projects should also include a tangible output that captures the experiences of the participants and highlights the impact of the project.
