The Alliance for Peacebuilding is seeking a part-time intern to help administer a partnership project with the United States Institute of Peace. The intern's primary responsibility is to assist the Program Director in the program design and implementation of a multi-year, multi-partner strategic communications campaign. Basic duties include assistance with substantive research, drafting external communications, including concept notes and partnership updates, and meeting logistics.
The internship (15-20 hrs/wk) will accommodate a flexible schedule, run from January – April 2013, and take place in Washington, DC. Preference will be given to candidates that can potentially continue the internship into the summer and fall of 2013.
At least three years completed college coursework, preferably four years ● Strong computer skills, high proficiency in Word and Excel ● Enthusiasm and commitment to the organization’s mission ● Proactive, independent and team-oriented work ethic ● Excellent writing skills and attention to detail ● Professional workplace experience ● Proven ability manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines ● Positive attitude and an ability to engage with a wide variety of people ● Experience working with policy-makers or the media and familiarity with peacebuilding and/or international affairs a plus.
At the intersection of peacebuilding and development, the intern will connect with AfP’s network of partners both overseas and in Washington. The Alliance for Peacebuilding is willing to work with candidate’s higher education institution for course credit, if applicable.
