Scholarships for Coventry's Online MA Peacebuilding Programme, January 2013 - www.coventry.ac.uk/peacestudy

The online MA in Peacebuilding (www.coventry.ac.uk/peacestudy) is designed to enable mid and senior level professionals working in various peacebuilding areas including humanitarian action, post-conflict reconstruction, education, security, social development, law, and governance, to acquire an MA qualification in one year.

The programme evaluates participants’ professional and training experience and  mapping it against the first 120M credits of a Masters programme by the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL); and allowing them to then complete an MA through a subject specialist assignment and a dissertation.

This course of study consists of one online module on the theory and practice of peacebuilding and independent research leading to a dissertation.

By employing off-campus online educational methods, the degree provides professionals with an excellent opportunity to have comprehensive in-depth knowledge of peacebuilding and practical skills to apply to their work. The participants will benefit from online access to a dedicated team of tutors, discussions with other course participants, and electronic information resources. In addition, two 3-day intensive residential workshops will be delivered, typically in January and June.

Fees for home/EU/international participants are £ 7,500. In addition to tuition fees, participants are expected to cover all travel, accommodation and subsistence costs to attend the workshops.

The scholarships are discretionary for tuition fees up to a maximum of £7,000. Participants are more likely to be successful in their application if they can show that they have made efforts in this direction, and that they need only partial funding from us. In previous years we have made a number of awards to cover 50% of the university fees. Priority will be given to candidates from low to middle income economies working for local or national organizations.
