S-CAR Project Seeking Host Families for Central Asian Teenagers in the Washington, DC Area

An Invitation to the PCDN Community,

For a third summer, S-CAR has partnered with the Alliance for Conflict Transformation to host the Benjamin Franklin Summer Institute with South and Central Asia at the George Mason Fairfax campus. We will bring forty five sixteen to eighteen year-old students from India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the US together for four weeks for an intensive, interactive program in Fairfax, VA.

The Institute helps students develop global perspectives, relationships and mutual understandng. Key to achieving these goals is providing the students an opportunity to live with a host family for 10 days of their four week adventure in the U.S. (June 29th to July 9th). During this period, the students will be attending classes Mon- Friday from 9am until 5pm, with weekend time to explore the area  (We can assist with transportation to and from campus on class days).  Students need to have their own bed and it must be in a bedroom, up to three students can be housed in the same home.

If you can open your open to an S-CAR guest, either this summer, or in the future, if you have friends or belong to communities that would welcome these students, or if you have questions regarding the homestay, please respond to franklin@gmu.edu and reference Ben Franklin Housing on the subject line or visit http://bfsia.wordpress.com/  for the Homestay information packet and application.

Many thanks for all of your support for S-CAR now, and as we continue to grow together.
