HI Everyone
I am finishing final edits on a forthcoming edited book I am writing/editing on Integrated Peacebuilding: Innovative Approaches to Transforming Conflict. One chapter discusses peace media and I am searching for what is the first cite for Galtung (the complete cite) that mentions peace media? We have been searching far and near and found several, but would like to find the most appropriate one. If anyone has suggestions would very much appreciate it.
Thanks
Dr. Zelier

Permalink Reply by Maor on November 9, 2012 at 6:24pm I don't understand why you had to delete my comment. It may not have been helpful for your specific needs, but people should be aware of Galtung's involvement in antisemitism and conspiracy theories.
Permalink Reply by Craig Zelizer on November 9, 2012 at 6:37pm We normally don't cut things on the site but it was a very strong quote. I am aware of the very controversial statements he made for example see the following articles and would encourage everyone to read these three postings that provide different perspectives on this
http://www.unrestmag.com/johan-galtung-an-anti-semite-i-dont-think-so/ an interesting one from a cr practitioner
One from Transcend (Galtung's organization) https://www.transcend.org/galtung/statement-may-2012/
One from an Israeli Peacemaker in Haaertz, http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/an-open-letter-to-johan-galtung-peac...
I think people should read these to learn more.
Permalink Reply by Maor on November 9, 2012 at 6:48pm It's perfectly legitimate to make people aware of the response of Galtung and others to the accusations against him, but you have deleted the post I wrote regarding those accusations, and did not bring any report on the accusations that are based on his written and spoken commentary.
Would you allow people to read also the other perspective and decide for themselves?

World Peace Academy suspended Galtung following those statements: http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=280726

May be you are looking for the following link of 'Transcend Media Service' of Transcend University - Galtung's online university: of course, if you haven't found it yet.
All the best,

Permalink Reply by Craig Zelizer on November 9, 2012 at 9:15pm Thanks. i know of this and also have found quite a few cites from Galtung and others about peace journalism for example see
Galtung, J. 2000. Conflict Transformation by Peaceful Means. The Transcend Method. United Nations Disaster Management Training Program. Retrieved June 5, 2012 from http://transcend.org/pctrcluj2004/TRANSCEND_manual.pdf
and an early article from 65 where he discusses concepts of peace journalism. Just trying to find the first actual article as many scholars say he describes it in the 70s, but trying to find an original cite

Galtung, J. and Ruge, M. 1965. The structure of foreign news. Journal of Peace Research 2, no. 1: 64-91.
