Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is an international non-profit organization that promotes peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, DC and a European office in Brussels, Belgium, SFCG’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict - away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG seeks to help conflicting parties understand their differences and act on their commonalities. Institutional Learning Team

The Institutional Learning Team (ILT) was set up in 2002 with the aim of supporting SFCG as a learning organization by enhancing the effectiveness of SFCG’s programming through a commitment to excellence in monitoring and evaluation, and through continuous learning institutionally and within related fields. The Institutional Learning Team comprises the Vice President of Programs, DM&E Manager, four Regional DM&E Specialists, the Learning Portal Content Manager,  and the Director of Children and Youth.


Summary of Position

The Learning Portal Content Manager is responsible for supporting the full functionality of the DM&E for Peace Learning Portal (, the management and support of its content, including content and resource generation, and the active promotion of the site within the fields of peacebuilding and evaluation. The Learning Portal Content Manager reports to the DM&E Manager. The position is based in Washington, DC.  There is no international travel involved in this position.



Key responsibilities and specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Learning Portal for DM&E for Peacebuilding

  • Manages and coordinates the development of content for
  • Promotes content on appropriate social media channels (facebook, twitter etc)
  • Develops and fosters an active user base for
  • Writes monthly newsletters on key DM&E news and events
  • Promotes the website to relevant audiences, particularly in the Global South.
  • Liaise with website developer for the upgrading and maintenance of the website
  • Leads the redesign and marketing strategy of the Learning Portal
  • Drafts quarterly web metrics reports, program support reports, and maintains the SFCG evaluation database
  • Fundraises to ensure sustainability of the website and support ILT’s fundraising efforts
  • Leads the development and maintenance of a dedicated peace education space on the Learning Portal for UNICEF.
  • Leads the community of practice portfolio of the website for the Peacebuilding Evaluation Consortium.

Institutional Learning Team Support

  • Provides general support to the Institutional Learning Team and the Program Quality Team
  • Conducts primary and secondary research on monitoring and evaluation concepts as needed
  • Provides assistance to the DM&E Manager when necessary on special projects

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.




  • Minimum BA in Conflict Studies, International Relations/Affairs, Global Studies preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in supporting the development of websites and technology for development
  • Work experience in design, monitoring and evaluation methodologies
  • Experience developing and implementing marketing strategies for websites.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Social Media
  • Ability to write clear, concise SEO-friendly content for the web
  • Excellent command of English (written & oral)
  • Knowledge of Salsa or Salesforce
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, and impartiality
  • Must enjoy working independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Detail oriented and highly organized, with a proactive approach
  • Ability to multi task and work under tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, web browsers


  • Experience working in the head office of an international organization
  • Work experience in design, monitoring and evaluation methodologies
  • Experience working internationally and specifically in areas of conflict
  • Demonstrated capacity to understand monitoring and evaluation
  • Graduate experience in a relevant field
