Daly City Council Member will join Daly City community leaders and residents to introduce legislation to provide” local” control to the Cow Palace.
Due to the recent events that have happened at the Cow Palace over the past six months where we have had two fatalities and with numerous people in our emergency rooms. Daly City Council Member David Canepa and local community leaders will gather to hold a press conference regarding legislation that the Council member will introduce at the Daly City Council on November 8th.
“As the President of the Bayshore School District I am deeply troubled by the recent and past events that have happened at the Cow Palace. This particular piece of legislation proposed will bring our community voice to the process, and prevent future nuisances to our community and to the patrons who attend these events, “said Theresa Gerigk.
The legislation proposed would require promoters seek the approval of Daly City's Police Chief before events are approved. The legislation would further require that these promoters pay an additional public safety fee for added police protection at these events, and you would have to be 18 or over to attend these events. Also, there would be a clause that stipulates that the promoter be responsible for additional police and fire costs if another incident like this occur.
“I grew up in the Bayshore, and as a teenager I used to work at the Cow Palace. It saddens me as a teacher that our young people are being carted out on stretchers because of drug use. The Cow Palace certainly needs more oversight and this particular piece of legislation being proposed by Daly City Council Member Canepa accomplishes this.” Said Shakeel Ali.
