Building Bridges, Networks and Expertise Across Sectors

HELSINKI COMMITTEE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS IN SERBIA published a book "Casualties of the 1990s Wars in the Former Yugoslavia (1991-1999)", edited by Ewa Tabeau. Book also gives an overview on circulation of numbers since 2000, when first estimations appeared in ICTY related to missing persons from Srebrenica. Even before that, numbers where very important argument of any party involved in dissolution of Former Yugoslavia - although completely different and confronting. However, last years several regional NGO's are working on counting a war causalities, such as Research and Documentation Center (RDC), Humanitarian Law Center, Documenta , but thier results where established partially. Helsinkee committee came out with this book as the first rounded document on the subject.
Downloading a entire book, on English or BHC lenguages is now available.

Congratulations to the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia - for still existing despite all the threats, and for making available this superb resource. Well done, Ewa!

Thank you interest, Howard. I also think is amazing to have something completed on the subject. Humanitarian Law Center is working on Kosovo Memory Book, a List of victims with comprehensive data , and will also compete the data for entire Serbia. Collecting of this data is on same principle like the data of Tokaca from BiH. Documenta too, is doing the same for Croatia by using the same softer. For few years, the region will have every victim by name and circumstances of death. After that, no any manipulation would be possible.
