Calling all Conflict/Crisis Mapping Experts- looking for interviewees to inform SMS-based EWS!

Dear PCDN Members,

I am conducting some research on the use of SMS and technology (Ushahidi, etc.) in crisis and conflict mapping.  I am looking to interview different people with experience developing geographic conflict maps.  Particularly interested in learning more about:

  • Methodology and coding choices
  • Lessons learned  (particularly what sorts of problems we should try to anticipate and mitigate)
  • Your experience with similar project(s)
  • Best strategies for garnering public participation

This will inform an SMS-based early warning system project in Jos, Nigeria.

I am based in DC, but can do interviews over Skype if you are located elsewhere.  Please contact me at voliphant(at)sfcg.org or over this network if you are interested in being interviewed or have suggestions of other folks who might be, as well as with any relevant documents or resources.

Thanks a lot!

Please let me know if you have questions, and I would be more than happy to tell you more.

Warm Regards,

Valerie
