The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich in Switzerland will hold
a conference in November 2012 on International Peacekeeping in Africa, with a
particular focus on current actors and missions. Over the last decades, the African
continent has witnessed a proliferation of peacekeeping missions. Simultaneously, an
increasing number of actors have become involved in the effort to bring peace to Africa, and this in turn has led to new and diverse types of operations. This conference seeks to analyze these developments in their entirety and comparatively in order to identify the most significant challenges and trends in international peacekeeping in Africa. The results will be published as an edited volume that assesses the evolution of peacekeeping in Africa through generic and contextual articles that present comparative analyses of the actors, missions, challenges, and impacts, as well as case studies that focus on crisis regions or countries where various actors are currently involved.
Proposals of between 300 and 500 words should be sent to Marco Wyss (wyss(at)sipo.gess.ethz.ch) by 31 May 2012.
The CSS will support travel costs (reasonable) and accommodation expenses for the conference.

Hi. I so much like this idea and would like to participate in it. Actually there is this idea I have been having on Peace-keeping in Africa and this would be the much needed opportunity to sell it. Dear Sally,Uganda has been so active in peace keeping in many countries in Africa and I have been actively followingthe processes.Apart from the process,we experienced more than 22 years of insurgency Uganda peoples defence fighting with Kony. Therefore Iwould be very much interested to share my experience with others internationally,I therefore going to submit my proposal call for papers very soon.

Hi, I am Vicente Antonio Halle from Mozambique. Mozambique is one of the southern africa countries and it has exeperience war for 16 years, that, soon after independence in 1975. It ended on 4th october 1992. This year we will be celebrate 20 years of peace. I would like to partipate and i would like to share my living experience with the participantes, especially the refugee experience. I have advantage also since last year in November i was in Austria at Austrian Study Centre for Conflict Resolution and peace where i did courses on projects management, peace-keeping and peacemaking and peacebuilding. please i would like to be there.
