Call for Applications: TPU - 1st Semester 2009
23 online courses on Peace and Development
9 March - 29 May, 2009

TRANSCEND Peace University (TPU) which was founded in 2000 by the pioneer of Peace Studies and Research, Prof. Johan GALTUNG, invites you to take online courses in the next TPU semester, March 2009. Join the growing number of TPU students and alumni - peace practitioners, NGO activists, civil society leaders, all united by the inspiring vision of Peace by Peaceful Means.

The purpose of TPU and one of the main reasons for its foundation, is to promote inter-disciplinary Peace Studies, and make it accessible to as wide a community as possible. For this, we opted for an online format, offering over 20 certificate courses each semester and constantly diversifying our offer, also language-wise. TPU faculty is drawn from amongst the leading peace scholars and practitioners in their fields internationally. A valuable asset to our courses is brought by participants themselves, by the diversity of cultures from around the world, meeting together on the TPU online platform and helping each other expand the worldviews, and finding creative solutions, approaches and ideas for a wide range of conflicts and peace-related issues.

In March 2009 TPU offers 23 online courses. The duration of each course is 12 weeks. Students are welcome to take one or several courses, depending on their availability. Generally, in order to benefit fully from the course, participants are advised to dedicate not less than 8 hours per week for each course.

Whether you are a beginner, a seasoned government or NGO practitioner, entrepreneur or social worker, lecturer or artist, student or politician: if you want to develop your skills in order to be able to peacefully transform conflicts and to contribute to peace - TPU is the right place for you!

I am a Srilankan graduate who has obtained a degree in peace and conflict resolution. so I am very interesting to study further on peace related field. As graduate and Srilankan, I have experiences in thirty years long on going war in Srilanka with out a sustainable political solution. I think it is a better to get higher education at such an institute on peacefully transformation methods for peacefull constructive contribution for Srilanka and the world.
