Are you excited about reaching out to people through the medium of theater? Do you want to start a venture that will impact people in your home country? Then apply for the unique one year D&F Academy Theater Project with German director Nils Daniel Finckh and other eminent experts.

Come to the D&F Academy Hamburg for ten weeks and learn how to write and stage a theater piece. During the subsequent ten months you will create your own venture in your home country as part of the D&F Academy DreamMaker Program.

Starting in April 2013, up to 20 Fellows from all around the globe will learn from the Project Friend Nils Daniel Finckh how to create a theater play and how theater can facilitate positive social change. As a Fellow, you will have the unique opportunity to meet experts and practitioners – from actors, directors, and writers to costume designers and activists – to learn about all aspects of creating a play, and about the social impact that theater can have when it addresses both current and universal issues. At the conclusion of your ten weeks in Hamburg, you will return home and, with the support of the innovative online curriculum and an experienced mentor, implement a project idea you are passionate about.

The prestigious D&F Academy Fellowship is a unique opportunity for young people aged 18 to 28 who are eager to make a change. To apply for a D&F Fellowship for the Theater Project, you must submit your application by January 7th, 2013 at www.dfacademy.org

What a wonderful project! I love this!

Thanks! We look forward to your application!

I am sorry to read that this opportunity, lke most, is for a young age group only. Don't you think it would sometimes be healthier to offer multi-generational experieces by including a wider range of ages? I realize that what a young person learns will last a lifetime, but I am retiring now and have good enough health to attempt some activites in the arts that I have long wanted to do but could not while working. What I learn could possibly be "wasted" if I develop poor health, but I see a good fifteen years of involvement in community arts ahead for myself. Do you have any suggestions for me as a retired community college instructor of English wanting to be involved in activist theater?

Dear Jean Martinolich, we understand and find it a pity ourselves that we have to limit the available fellowship opportunities. You are totally right, it is never too late, to make a change in the world!

Please be inspired by our project and use your network of young people to make something happen in your society! Following us onFacebook or signing in to the newsletter here will get you an insight into the D&F Projects.

Good luck making a change, Jean!

Regards, the D&F Academy Team

Indeed I will follow what you are up to. I have worked with community college aged youth for many years and have done quite a lot of learning community projects on environment. While here in New Orleans, the university population is somewhat active in arts and activism (especially the private universities), the community college group is a bigger challenge. I really want to fill a niche in the area of minority involvement in environmental issues, and sadly here where we have high cancer rates and extreme wetlands erosion from the oil companies, envrironmental activism is perceived by many people of color as a sort of "beautification" lust by white women (that would be me) in competition with social activism (not me). I would welcome any young gradaute of your program to come join me in some sort of collaborate work. There is much to do here. But one point that slipped through your response--multi-generational collaboration is usually quite useful in community organizing. Seriously, send me people..."A Playce for Everybody: A growing Spot for Practice in Human Community,Jean Martinolich... social activism with an emphasis on the social..inclusive work, play, arts, community healing in a food garden.Good luck and thanks for good wishes. Jean
