This Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience level I training is a five-day educational and experiential training put on by Eastern Mennonite University that brings together restorative justice, human security, spirituality and conflict transformation and will be held at the United States Institute of Peace (http://www.usip.org/education-training) in Washington, D.C., September 24-28, 2012.
STAR Level I training is a course for those whose work brings them in contact with populations dealing with historic or current trauma. Pastors, social workers and counselors are some of the people who have benefited from STAR training.
About the Training: The training combine lectures with experiential and interactive activities. Learning happens through presentations, physical activity, creative expression, and interaction with other participants. Bodywork, meditations from different spiritual traditions, and reflection are woven into the experience. The STAR experience provides the basics about trauma, peacebuilding and restorative justice, with examples of activities and ways to begin to integrate this knowledge into participants’ work and communities.
STAR Level 1 Registration USIP is available online at the following URL: http://emu.edu/machform/view.php?id=264. The total cost for the training is $749.00.
