What is Brave Kids Project:
The fundamental aim of this project is to present unique groups of young artists from regions of the world affected by various tragedies - natural disasters, political conflicts, homelessness and poverty as well as to show that art gives the chance for these children to overcome traumatic experiences and break free of destructive limitations. We believe this to be an important step towards shaping the future of the participants of the project and their communities.
During the Brave Kids Project we would like to present the world’s cultural diversity to the citizens of Wroclaw and international audience thus encouraging tolerance and their openness to one another.
BRAVE KIDS 2011
Second edition of Brave Kids project will take place in Wroclaw between 22 June and 10 July 2011.
On the 22 June 2011 kids from Zimbabwe (6 kids), Rwanda (6 kids), Czech Republic (6 kids) and Norway (8 kids) will come to Wroclaw. They will be joined by two children groups from Poland- Wroclaw (10 kids) and Warsaw- refuges from Chechnya (6 kids). At the beginning of the project, around 24th of June, each group will show a little performance- a story about organization that they come from, land where they live or traditional culture which they represent. It will be a show of their dances, songs, theatrical practices or other skills that they use.
These short shows will aim to present to the wider audience the individual groups taking parts in Brave Kids project, they will also allow the participants to get to know each other. For two further weeks, this group of 40 children will be taking part in a process of exchanging skills, learning from one another, and peppering final performance.
On the 8th July, during the Grand Finale of Brave Festival 2011 “Masks” the children will perform their show. We estimate 700 audience to see it.
We plan to devote a separate cycle of professional trainings to the leaders who come with the groups. They will take part in special trainings to widen their knowledge in the field of international children situation, art therapy, group work, fundraising, children’s rights etc.
If your art group is interested please send a video of your performance and short story about you:
