SUMMARY:Association for Conflict Resolution, September 2010 Conference
, Call for Workshop Proposals
DESCRIPTION:ACR 10th Annual Conference\n\nM
any Paths: One Destination\n\nSeptember 1-4, 2010\n\nChicago , Ill
inois\n\nIn 2010, ACR will celebrate its 10th Annual Conference. Over
the past 10 years, we as a community have seen an evolving and growing
need for high quality conflict resolution, from the international to
the interpersonal level. ACR’s 10th Annual Conference provides the o
pportunity to step back and reflect on changes witnessed, challenges
met, and prospects for the future. Our 2010 Conference is an excellen
t time to celebrate the essence of ACR, an organization that embraces
and acknowledges the full spectrum of peaceful conflict resolution a
nd recognizes the value of cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural conne
ctions to enhance conflict resolution choices universally. ACR embod
ies \"Many Paths: One Destination,\" this year’s conference theme.\n
\nThis theme celebrates the oneness, the unity, the common goal we sha
re in reaching the One Destination: Peaceful Conflict Resolution. Th
e theme recognizes the connections within and across our practice area
s, Sections and Chapters, and the valuable partnerships created within
professions such as family services, legal, health care, education, b
usiness and many others.\n\nWhen thinking about proposals for the 2
010 conference, consider the theme and how ACR represents the many pat
hs that we travel. We invite proposals that highlight:\n\n· Simil
arities and possibilities for relationships across Sections, illustr
ating the interconnectedness of our work and our field\n· Cutting edg
e practices and programs that are successful, unique and/or replicable
\n· Research areas that benefit the field and beyond: what are the co
nnections between theory and practice? What research findings will h
elp us reach our destination?\n· Theoretical and philosophical underp
inning of conflict and its resolution\n· Advanced techniques and skil
l building\n\nIn addition to ACR's traditional 60 minute facilitated d
iscussions on Diversity & Equity, proposals are invited for 90 min
ute mainstream track sessions on research, skill building and practice
enhancements in resolving disputes among diverse and underserved clie
ntele. We invite proposals on racism, sexism, ageism, and cross cultur
al issues.\n\nOur hope is that the proposals received will enable conf
erence attendees to discover new paths and deepen their understanding
of familiar ones all pointing to one destination: peaceful conflict re
solution.\n\nThe deadline for submission is 11pm (Eastern Standard
Time) on Wednesday, December 2, 2009.\n\nFor more information visi
