Event Description

.
FREE WEBINAR, DEC 10th, CHANGING THE WORLD FOR WOMEN

99 years ago, International Women’s Day was launched, with women demanding the right to vote, work, hold public office and an end to job discrimination.

65 years ago, The Charter of the United Nations was the first international agreement to proclaim gender equality as a fundamental human right.

62 years ago, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

17 years ago, the United Nations passed a resolution, saying States should condemn violence against women.

16 years ago, the UN passed a resolution outlining a platform for action for states to eliminate violence against women and girls.

7 years ago, the UN passed a resolution saying states should implement the commitments made in the platform for action.

5 years ago, at the World Summit, world leaders declared that ‘progress for women is progress for all’.

2 years ago, UNIFEM began a public campaign to ‘inspire’ the member states to act by 2015.

Is it all talk?

One in 3 women can’t afford to wait another 5 years for states to ‘feel inspired’…

Some Females do suffer as you have put it and this does not need strong evidence because we see it everywhere. We have to recognise how patient and humble majority of females are. They were not born to suffer; if we consider some cultures for example, they believe in cutting females genitals saying that this will avoid them prostitution and others. This violates these females rights. Those who set up and support such practices should know that the world is changing and we heve to move with it. The people of power should fight against all kinds of injustices done on females;especially war masters. Household is another issue that has to be burried down. Not only females are mobilsed to fight for their rights, but some brutal men also should be reeducated on how to live harmoniously in their homes. These men believe in marrying wives to make them slaves. A woman does not marry a man to lose her freedom. Men should be proud to marry women, helpers, mothers of their children. I still and will always support that a person deemed to be weak by us men should be relieved by us and not make them sink into a quagmire. Let us lift them up as we are stronger than they are. This is a spirit of collaboration for bettering life, which is opposed to sadistic behaviour. We should fell compassionate with people who are suffering and not rejoice.
