Event Description

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Sport Science and Development (ICESSD), University of the Western Cape, will host its 2nd International Sport and Development Conference in Cape Town, South Africa 2-3 December 2011. This year the conference will take its lead from the 2nd International Forum on Sport, Peace and Development which took place at the United Nations Office in Geneva in May this year. As South Africa has been elected UN Chair for the IWG Sport and Peace, the upcoming ICESSD conference in Cape Town will focus on Networking in the field of Sport Development and Peace and will in addition to presentations have workshops in the focal areas of Sport and Peace, Sport and Health, Sport & Policy and Sport & Environment.

Call for abstracts and more information will follow soon.

Deadline for abstracts 15 September 2011
